Oggi il Past Perfect.

Come al solito, c’è un brano da ascoltare contenente tanti esempi.

E’ meglio ascoltare la registrazione almeno una volta (o anche più volte), prima di leggere la trascrizione che troverai qui sotto.

Non ti preoccupare delle parole che non conosci, continua ad ascoltare anche se all’inizio capisci poco (o nulla) del testo. Con un po’ di pratica, migliorerai!

7. Past Perfect – I hadn’t had time to read the instructions

This was last year – I had recently changed computer, but hadn’t yet learned how to use the new one properly.

Like most new PCs, it had a system which backs up your hard disk to a DVD. But as I was so busy at work, I hadn’t had time to read the instructions. In fact I hadn’t even found the instructions. I had intended to buy a box of DVDs to make the backups on, but I hadn’t managed to do that either.

While my old computer had had an expensive anti-virus, which I had regularly updated, the new one had only a trial version, which had already expired, and which I hadn’t thought to renew.

So, when I realized I had accidentally viewed a website which contained malware, it was too late.

The damage had already been done. My computer had been infected with a malicious virus which had immediately encrypted all of my most important files and made them impossible to open.

It was a disaster! Because I had been so busy, I had lost weeks of work.

My carelessness meant I had to waste days trying to recreate my files from backups I had made months before on the old computer.
