“Sorry I’m late”
IMAGINE by Silvia
Imagine there’s no present
Imagine there’s no past
No bad things behind you
The future coming fast
Imagine that your whishes are becoming trueImagine there’s no illness
It is hard to believe
Nothing to fight or die for
All happy at new year’s eve
Imagine all the people living whitout fearYou, you may think
It’s a lyric, I can write all what I want
but sometimes the music
give you hope even if you don’t….Imagine only a language
understandable for all
No misunderstanding
nor quarrels or fight at all
Imagine all the people sharing only loveYou, you may say
It’s a lyric, with a present and a past
But if you hard believe in it
you can change your future very fast
La lezione di oggi
La canzone n.4 nella lista di Rolling Stone è “What’s going on” (Che succede) di Marvin Gaye. Puoi leggere l’articolo qui.
Per ascoltarla, clicca qui. Troverai le parole qui.
Che ne dici? Personalmente preferisco Sexual Healing.
Compito
Parliamo dei generi musicali.
Rispondi con un commento, per favore.
1. Che genere di musica faceva Martin Gaye?
2. Altre cantante/canzone famosi della stessa genere?
3. Il tuo genere di muscia preferito, qual’è? (Perché?)
Have a great Wednesday. Next post Friday, if all goes well….

Hi Daniel!
How are you? I don’t know Martin Gaye, I like other kind of music like Rap and Rock music. My favourite singer are Fedez because he writes a text very cool but my favourite on all are the Cramberries. For example they sing “Zombie” which is very beautiful and exciting!
Thanks for your correction! 😉
Until next time!

Good morning 🙂
I don’t know this artist and honestly I don’t like this song. I don’t really appreciate this kind of music. I love 60s and 70s rock such as beatles, rolling stones, beach boys, led zeppelin, genesis, pink floyd, ac/dc, black sabbat, deep purple, …but my favourite on all are the doors.
See you the next time (I would say “Alla prossima” but I don’t know how to say it).
Daniel dice
Hi Daniela,
It’s not my favourite genre either. I like all of the bands you mention, too! (Black SabbatH).
But not everyone has the same taste as us….
So, in this series, a little variety is necessary!
Alla prossima = Until next time (or something similar).

Hi Daniel,
I don’t know Marvin Gaye very well but I have one cd “The best of” and I know he wrote soul lyrics like Aretha Franklin, Otis Redding and Wilson Pickett. This kind of music is a mix of blues, rhythm and “black voices” . My preferred kind of music is latin jazz also known as bossa nova; I like it very much because you can find jazz, rhythm and very good voices in it.
Pls correct me 😉

Hi Silvia,
Thanks for your contribution.
You write very well and I have no corrections to suggest!
Have a nice Sunday.

Hi Clara,
I didn’t receive an email from the address that you use on this site (which I won’t publish here for obvious reasons).
But you managed to post this time, right? Please post any further comments, rather than emailing them. That way my replies are available for anyone to read.

Hi Daniel,
thanks that this week you’ve chosen the singer Marving Gaye. I love him but I agree with you this is not the best song that he had written.
The genre of music that he did was soul with a little infuence of pop. At that period this kind of music was very popular. There were other famous artists that made this music such as Rod Steward and Barry White. What was my favourite song? I remember “You’re the best way”.
I continue to listen this music because it feels me happy.
I hope that you correct my mistakes.
Thanks
Fabrizio

Hello Fabrizio,
OK, soul. What are the characteristics of soul, would you say? I’ve never been sure exactly what it is?
I’ll listen to the song you suggested.
Daniel
Corrections:

hi Daniel!
Marvin Gaye wrote songs about war, racial right, love,economy..
He wrote also for Stevie Wonder.Other famous singers longtail were Tammi Terrell,Diana Ross.
I like all kinds of music.I like the music that gives sensation.I don’t like techno-music, that just break your eardrums.Ciao

We just need to agree a day & time. Email me your suggestion (the e-mail is the one for this site, at the bottom of the page). And any special requests, for example if there is something in particular you want to talk about, or study.
I look forward to “meeting” you.
You have Skype, I presume??
