Chapter 6. Amanda Must Hurry!
Amanda leaves the bar, trying to think of a solution.
Usually, when she’s walking, good ideas come to her. So she decides to walk around the city.
She turns right, then left, crosses a square, waits for the green light at a traffic signal, crosses the street, then turns back.
An idea comes to her: “I’ll go back to Davide’s place. If he’s not there I’ll call him.”
It’s twenty to nine – already late! Amanda must hurry.
But Davide still isn’t at home. The only thing Amanda can do now is to forget the surprise, and phone him.
Amanda calls twice, three times, four, but Davide doesn’t answer.
Now she’s desperate. “What a stupid idea it was to try to surprise him! I’ve wasted the day for nothing!”
