Chapter 7: An Invitation to Lunch
“Oh Marco, I’m so sorry about your grandmother.
You know, I’ve never had grandchildren? My daughter lives far away and doesn’t visit often. I’m always on my own, with Gegè, who’s getting old, like me.
Gegè and I go to the ‘Centre for the Elderly’ each day, but really… I prefer the company of younger people!
In fact, when we get out of here, why don’t you come for Sunday lunch. We can discuss what to do about the noise.”
Marco is surprised at the lunch invitation.
“Perhaps she isn’t so bad” he thinks. And it’s sad that she has no grandchildren…
Then, suddenly, the lift starts to move again.
Marco and Signora Marisa hug each other, out of relief!
