Chapter 8 – Never Say Never
“This is really not our day!” sighs Luca.
Just then Marco’s cellphone rings. It’s the secretary.
“Are you two guys still in Rome?”
“Yes!” says Marco, “Unfortunately we’ve missed the train!”
“Unfortunately?” repeats the secretary “On the contrary! You are very fortunate! The director wants you to take a second test. Can you come back here?”
“We certainly can!” says Marco “We’ll be right there!”
Marco and Luca return to Cinema City. At the entrance they see Eugenio.
“Eugenio! Thank you !” says Luca. “You….”
“No! You mustn’t thank me. My son is the director, not me. If he thinks you’re good then you must be!”
Luca and Marco smile happily
“But what are you waiting for?” continues Eugenio. “Go on in!”
Luca and Marco shake his hand and run towards the theatre. The director asks them to read another script. This one is longer and more difficult than the first and when it is finished they suddenly feel very tired.
A little later the secretary comes out to them in the corridor. “Congratulations!” she says, “It went well. You are officially in the film!”
Luca and Marco can hardly believe it, especially Marco who has only gone along to help Luca. Now he himself is about to become an actor. Life really is strange at times!
“Come on, lets go and celebrate!” says Luca “And this time you can pay, dear actor Marco!”
