Chapter 6 – The Audition
“What bad luck!” says Luca. “Come on, Marco, let’s go.”
“Are you sure? asks Marco
“Yes, there’s nobody here. It’s just bad luck.”
But, at that very moment they hear a voice: “Hello, lads, what are you doing here?”
It’s Eugenio!
“Are you lost? Do you want to get in to this theatre?”
Luca and Marco are stunned. What is Eugenio doing at Cinema city?
“Leave it to me,” says Eugenio, taking out his cellphone. He makes a short call and suddenly the door opens.
“But how…..?” says Marco
“Oh, don’t worry, my son works here. You can go in now.”
Just in time; the auditions are nearly over. Luca goes in and Marco waits in the corridor with Eugenio.
The director asks Luca to read a script. It’s a short dialogue with a few simple phrases.
While Luca is reading, the director takes notes. When he has finished the photographer asks Luca to pose for a few photographs.
When Luca comes out Marco and Eugenio ask if it went well.
“I think so,” smiles Luca, “It was easy!”
The secretary appears in the corridor, asking “Is there anyone else?” She looks at Marco “You?”
“Well, really I…”
“Don’t be timid,” says Eugenio “Have a go!”
Luca nods in agreement.
Marco goes in. “Come, come on,” says the director “Take the script and read!
Marco is no actor but he does his best.
