Chapter 4 – A Meeting with a Dog
We say goodbye, and I turn towards the yellow building.
There are still no people on the street, but a large dog runs up to me, and puts its muddy paws on my skirt. I like dogs, but I don’t like mud on my suit! Now I look worse than before. A man comes round a corner and calls the dog. He says he’s sorry. I smile, and say it doesn’t matter. But it does.
I think of home, where I can sit in a comfortable chair, and read an interesting book or watch TV or listen to some music. Then I think about work. I don’t want to go on working and living in the old place. I am bored and lonely there. I want to live with my boyfriend. This interview is important!
I reach the yellow building with no more accidents, and go inside. It is ten past eleven. Suddenly I want this job very much. I hope I’m not too late. I hope the interviewers like my CV more than my dirty clothes.
I think about David. He’s sure that I will get the job. He’s already talking about the exciting things we can do together in York.
