Chapter 7 – Elisa!
Claudio goes home happy because he has finally seen Elisa again. Even if he did have to pay 87 euros for the packets of pasta that he damaged!
So he continues to go to the supermarket every evening, always at the same time. And only a few days later Elisa is there again. Claudio can hardly believe his eyes. She looks really beautiful in a flowery dress and black boots.
“I mustn’t mess things up this time!” Claudio says to himself. So, to avoid further mishaps, he leaves the trolley and calls from a distance, “Elisa!” But the young woman doesn’t turn around.
“Elisa!” he calls again, starting to run towards her.
But this time a very large lady turns around and Claudio stops, unable to pass her.
“Elisa! Elisa!” he shouts again.
“Yes, I’m here!” answers the large lady, coming towards him. Suddenly she grabs him in a bear-like hug, “My love! Finally!”
“But Madam… what are you doing?” demands Claudio, shocked, embarrassed and even a bit scared.
“I’ve been coming to this supermarket for days, just to see you, my love. You are beautiful!” And the woman starts kissing him. “And now, at last, you called my name!”
“No, Madam, I wasn’t calling you! It was another Elisa! No, no, no more kisses! That’s enough! Help! Let me go!”
But the fat lady doesn’t care what Claudio says and holds him closer, kissing his face and shouting “My love! My love!”
Claudio tries to escape but is unable to move. By now the bizarre declarations of love have attracted the attention of other shoppers and also of the supermarket manager, who arrives on the scene to see what is happening.
The only person who seems not to have noticed anything is the real Elisa.
