Chapter 6 – Disaster!
Six days have passed and Claudio is there again, at the supermarket. He follows the same route every time, putting a few things in the trolley, watching the other shoppers before going to pay. Every evening.
It’s two weeks since he has been out with a girl; his thoughts are now only for Elisa.
“Perhaps she won’t come any more,” he thinks, at times discouraged.
He has become something of a celebrity among the regular customers. The older women by now know who he is and talk about the beautiful young man who is so desperately looking for the woman of his dreams.
And so, on an ordinary Tuesday evening when he has almost given up hope, Claudio hears a voice behind him. An elderly woman grips his arm and with her other hand points to a female figure by the detergents.
“It’s her! It’s her! Run!”
Yes, it really is Elisa, the lady was right! The young woman takes something from the shelf and disappears from view.
“No! Not again! Where has she gone now?” Excited and distracted Claudio starts running with his trolley, without really looking where he’s going. Turning a corner, he loses control and collides with a mountain of packets of pasta, which are on special offer.
What a disaster! Claudio ends up on the floor with the pasta on top of him! From under the spaghetti and the macaroni he struggles to his feet but Elisa is already far away.
