Chapter 4 – Memories…
It was in the late nineties. Claudio was a student at ‘Dante Alighieri’ high school.
Elisa sat at the desk in front. She had long, black hair in a plait, never wore makeup and always dressed in jeans and big, colored sweaters. She probably wasn’t the prettiest girl in the class but Claudio was unbelievably attracted to her. In fact, he was secretly in love with her. By now he was already well known as the school heart throb. He always had so many girlfriends and no one ever turned him down.
But Elisa was different.
Now, at the checkout with the bottles of wine in his hands, Claudio thinks back to the day, so many years ago, he had his only date with her. They were to meet outside the cinema at eight o’clock. He was nervous and excited. He’d already bought the tickets and had been waiting there for 40 minutes. The film they were to see was a romantic comedy: a perfect choice, Claudio thought, hoping it would end with a kiss.
But Elisa did not turn up. For the first and only time, Claudio’s heart was broken.
Lost in his memories, he stands watching the young woman, so very different now but still impossible to forget.
“Well, do you want to pay or not?”
